Microorganisms (biocompatibility)

ASSUMPTION: If the biofilm formation is observed at the surface than the material is biocompatible.

3 pieces of each material were suspended in sealable bottles. Each bottle was filled with inoculum solution. The tested material was outlined on a previously prepared paper sheet, weighted and a 3d photo of the fresh individual piece (3d microscope) was taken. After 21 days the bottle was opened and the materials were inspected by  recording the thickness of the resulting biofilm  (pictures with 3d microscope/measurements on previously used paper sheet). Any changes observed were recorded (pictures with 3d microscope/measurements on previously used paper sheet) and noted in the dedicated table/file. Each piece with biofilm was then put in the dryer set at 105 °C and dried until constant mass. The weight of the biofilm was calculated.
