Economic and technological aspects of distributed energy systems based on biomass: a case study of a small county in Poland

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to present the benefits of using renewable energy sources for electricity generation in a small county. Energy coming from renewable sources contributes to the advancement of technology, creating innovation, establishing local cross-sectoral cooperation: science, business and local governments, promotes the development of intellectual capital and technical knowledge. At the same time it allows for stimulation of local development, especially agricultural communities and rural areas. Therefore, the text presents the results in terms of the availability of biomass, its productivity, logistics and economic benefits of a potential investor – Daszyna County.
