RIC Pro-Akademia on the social resilience of rural areas at the EU CAP Network workshops
Dr. Maksymilian Kochański, an expert at RIC Pro-Akademia, took part in the international workshop ‘LEADER and Social Resilience’, organised by the EU CAP Network on 16–17 June 2026 in Kaunas, Lithuania. The event brought together representatives of local action groups, managing authorities, national networks and project implementers from European Union member states.
During the workshop, Dr. Maksymilian Kochański, presented the experiences of the EcoReadyMasuria living lab, coordinated by RIC Pro- Akademia.
Our expert spoke about the methods we have developed to build social resilience in rural areas of Masuria
through participatory adaptive practices in agricultural production and the development of contingency plans for agricultural crises.
EcoReadyMasuria demonstrates how engaging local communities,
farmers, experts and stakeholders can help prepare rural areas for complex challenges relating to security,
climate change, economic stability and the continuity of food production.
Particular attention was paid to crisis scenarios such as infectious diseases among cattle, an economic crisis in the milk supply chain, and threats arising from military operations.
The EU CAP Network workshops focused on the role of the LEADER approach and local action groups in building the social resilience of rural communities to the so-called ‘triple challenges’: environmental, economic and social. Participants discussed both long-term crisis preparedness and the capacity to respond rapidly to sudden threats.
RIC Pro-Akademia’s participation in the event provided an opportunity to present Polish experiences in innovative, participatory methods of strengthening the resilience of rural areas and to exchange knowledge with partners from other European Union countries.
