Polish Science Day
19 February is Polish Science Day – a holiday that reminds us of the enormous impact that discoveries and research have on our lives: from grand theories to the technologies we use every day.
For us at CBI Pro Akademia, it is also an opportunity to emphasise that science does not end with publication.
We are most pleased when research results become solutions: they streamline processes, support energy transformation, help close material cycles and build a more resilient economy. We do this every day in the projects we are currently implementing, e.g.:
- in the EcoReadyMasuria project, we are working with farmers to test climate change adaptation scenarios and recommendations for agricultural policies, strengthening the resilience of food production in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe.
- in the 4Sir2 project, we are developing a functional drink for children and sustainable grape processing methods, combining obesity prevention with product innovation and minimising environmental impact.
- in the MOBILES project, we are researching biosensors and tools for detecting contaminants (e.g. antibiotics, heavy metals and pesticides), which supports health and environmental protection on an EU scale.
- in the BeBOP project, we are developing new methods for recovering valuable elements after biomass gasification, which is an important contribution to reducing the environmental impact of industrial processes.
- in the REUSE2030 project, we are implementing instruments to facilitate the circular economy in the mechanical industry in Central Europe, reducing waste streams and strengthening SMEs' access to circular tools.
- in the NiCE project, we are testing circular lifestyle models in city centres, including through "multifunctional resource centres" offering repair and recycling services.
Polish Science Day reminds us that the courage to ask questions – in the spirit of Copernicus – makes sense when it translates into technologies and competences; that is why we pursue innovation from Proof of Concept to piloting and implementation.
