ICT Solutions for Agriculture in EcoReadyMasuria Workshops

21-10-2025

On 15–17 October 2025, Wageningen University in the Netherlands hosted a conference entitled ‘From Data to Practice: AI-Powered Solutions for Adaptive Agriculture’. The event was attended by experts from the Pro-Akademia Research and Innovation Centre who, as coordinators of the EcoReadyMasuria living lab, led a workshop entitled "ICT Toolbox of Eco-Ready Living Labs: Practical Solutions for Data Collection and Management".

The workshops aimed to exchange knowledge and experience in the use of ICT tools by living labs to collect and manage data from various areas – from agricultural practices, through farmland data, to information about ecosystems.

The event was attended by experts i.a. from Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Greece and Germany, among others. A variety of digital solutions were discussed, including:
• user-friendly tools for collecting data from farmers,
• crop yield potential analysis systems using satellite data and soil testing,
• digital twins supporting field irrigation,
• artificial intelligence tools for studying biotic and abiotic stresses in crops.

The exchange of practical know-how and experience was extremely valuable – thanks to the diverse perspectives of the participants, new areas of potential cooperation were identified.

The third day of the conference included a visit to the Fruit Research Centre in Randwijk, where solutions for precision fruit tree cultivation were presented. Topics discussed included the robotisation of orchard management and the use of new technologies to monitor and improve plant health. The presentations in Randwijk highlighted the potential of precision cultivation techniques, especially for trees with a large number of flowers. Measuring tree vigour using drones can support more effective agricultural practices, e.g. in terms of fertilisation and plant protection. Despite existing challenges, such as monitoring diseases and pests, these technologies have significant potential to increase crop production efficiency.
