FRONTSh1p: Summary of Circular Economy Efforts in the Łódź Region

07-11-2025

Research and Innovation Centre Pro-Akademia has completed the FRONTSH1P project, which was carried out in cooperation with 35 partners from 9 countries. The project focused on regional circular economy and supported the transformation of the Łódź region towards sustainable development, including decarbonisation and territorial regeneration. RIC Pro-akademia was the leader of the work package: ‘Regional Systemic Circular Economic Approach’.

During the final meeting, which took place on 28-30 October 2025, we summarised the achievements of the project. The president of RIC Pro-Akademia, Dr Ewa Kochańska, moderated a discussion panel entitled ‘From Plan to Action – How We Implemented the Circular Economy Action Plans (CEAPs) in the Łódź Region’.

During the meeting, a study visit was organised to Parzęczew and Uniejów, where participants could see operational installations supporting the circular economy and waste processing.

As part of the project, four Circular System Solutions were introduced to support decarbonisation and respond to the needs of the packaging, food and feed, water and waste management industries. Some of the solutions have also been applied in other European regions.

The FRONTSH1P project promoted cooperation by creating Regional Circularity Clusters, involving stakeholders from the public and private sectors. In this way, we sought sustainable solutions, contributing to a more resilient circular economy.
