European Researchers’ Night in Olsztyn
On the 29th of September, 2017, our colleagues, Lidia Natalia Trusilewicz and Karina Michalska participated in the European Researchers’ Night (#fusion2night). The participation took place in connection with the project H2020-MSCA-IF-2016-746830 ‘Sewage Sludge in Portland Cement’, conducted from March, this year, in the Research and Innovation Centre Pro-Akademia. One of the aims of the project is to disseminate the results of the scientific works and to engage the public audience actively. ENN2017 (eng. European Researchers’ Night 2017), an event which happened in Olsztyn, is a project financed by the European Commission within Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and coordinated by the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn, by the Olsztyn School of Higher Education (OSW) and by the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn. The show and workshop entitled ‘Building colourful constructions with energy!’ prepared by Lidia and Karina, with the cooperation of our colleague, Marcin Siedlecki, was widely received with great interest by people of different age. Primary school and junior high school students had a possibility to develop their ecological awareness meanwhile in the afternoon the adults could discuss the circular economy of waste management and the sustainable management of primary and secondary resources in Poland and the European Union.
European Researchers’ Night in Olsztyn is the part of the European event and has a public character. It is realized within the Action NIGHT of the European Marie Skłodowska-Curie Foundation, aimed at stimulating the interest in a scientific career, especially among the young receivers. The activities focus on the general audience and take the forms of hands-on experiments and workshops, scientific shows, debates, competitions or quizzes. The event takes place annually, usually on the last Friday of September in the whole Europe.
