CBI Pro-Akademia takes part in the POLSA debate on the future of the Polish space sector
Representatives of the RIC Pro-Akademia— Dr Sergii Bespalko, Eng., and Dr Marcin Siedlecki, Eng. — took part in a workshop organised by the Polish Space Agency on 26 May 2026 in Warsaw.
The meeting was devoted to an in-depth discussion on the role of the space sector as a strategic sector for the state. Participants discussed how Poland should manage this sector in the context of growing geopolitical rivalry, the increasing importance of dual-use technologies, the war in Ukraine, pressure on national resilience, and the need to build national technological advantages.
The discussion centred on three main issues: the role of the space sector in implementing state policy, the role of public administration in managing this sector, and the organisational model for the space sector in relation to the state’s needs.
Another key topic was the search for an appropriate model for managing the space sector in Poland. Discussions covered, amongst other things, the state’s role as a regulator, coordinator, investor, client, ecosystem integrator and owner of strategic capabilities. Participants also considered which mechanisms, familiar from the energy, cybersecurity, defence and critical infrastructure sectors, could be applied to the management of the space sector.
RIC Pro-Akademia’s participation in the POLSA workshops provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and discuss possible avenues for cooperation in the field of research and development projects, including initiatives funded by the European Union. Such activities can support scientific and technological development and strengthen Poland’s position in international initiatives related to the space sector.
RIC Pro-Akademia is also developing physicochemical technologies and processes that can be applied both on Earth and, in the future, in space. These relate, amongst other things, to wastewater treatment, waste management, the utilisation of CO₂, and the production of synthetic fuels.
Involvement in such initiatives is in line with RIC Pro-Akademia’s mission, which aims to support innovative, environmentally friendly and practical technological solutions that address the challenges facing the modern economy, industry and national security.
