A new Genetic Engineering Facility opened at RIC Pro-Akademia

01-09-2025

Research and Innovation Centre Pro-Akademia has obtained an indefinite permit to operate a new Genetic Engineering Facility. The permit was issued by the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment and allows for research on genetically modified microorganisms of hazard category II to be conducted in fully controlled and safe conditions.

Our new Facility, located in Konstantynów Łódzki, is equipped with modern infrastructure, including an incubator enabling work in hypoxic conditions, a class II laminar chamber, a low-temperature freezer, as well as advanced air filtration and decontamination systems. This is an important step in the development of our research institution, which will enable us to carry out research that is essential for improving environmental protection and human health.

One of the first subjects of our research at the new facility will be chemiluminescent strains of Escherichia coli– designed to signal water contamination with antibiotics.

The opening of the Genetic Engineering Facility is another step in the development of RIC Pro-Akademia. The new infrastructure will help shape the future of environmental research and improve our understanding of the impact of human activity on ecosystems.
