Innovativeness support

Definition of an innovation

According to the 'Oslo Manual', the joint publication of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), innovativeness should be understood as introduction of novelties to economic practice. More precisely, innovativeness should denote introduction of new or significantly improved solutions regarding a product (a good or service), a process, marketing or organisation.

Innovativeness of the Small and Medium Enterprises sector in Poland is still remaining relatively low, what is expressed in the innovativeness indicator. In Poland it equals 0.22, whereas the average of EU-25 exceeds 0.44. Therefore innovativeness suport, activities aiming at development of technology transfer and strengthening relations between Small and Medium Enterprises and Research and Development Institutions constitute the prioritised areas of support of the National Cohesion Strategy of the Republic of Poland for the years 2007-2013.

Activities of the Association of Economic Consultants Pro-Akademia aiming at innovativeness support are implemented by the Innovativeness Department, which is also a coordinator of the 'Bioenergy for the Region' cluster.

Elaborated on the basis of the „European Innovation Scoreboard 2006. Comparative Analysis of Innovation Performance”, European Commission, Luxembourg 2006 and the Innovative Economy Operational Programme.
