Profile

Professor Matyushenko has graduated from N.Ye. Zhukovskiy National Aerospace University «Kharkiv Aviation Institute» in 1988 and defended thesis on technology of heavy-duty metal pulse processing. He has also received economics education in V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and master’s degree in public administration from National Academy of Public Administration at the President of Ukraine. Professor Matyushenko obtained certificate from the “Commercialization Pathfinder” program provided by CRDF Global in partnership with the IC2 Institute, University of Texas at Austin, USA.

He actively participates in scientific studies on assessing the prospects of high technology development in the world and Ukraine. In particular, his work focuses on the question of convergence and commercialization of NBIC (nano-, bio-, info- and cogno-) technologies. His research interests include the problems of state support for high-tech industries development, encouragement of investing and innovative activities in companies, as well as the development of foreign economic activity under the condition of Ukraine’s European integration and further integration of Ukraine’s economy into the global economy. He has authored more than 200 scientific papers in national and international journals (United Kingdom, Germany, USA, Poland), among others 40 monographs, more than 150 articles in scientific editions.

Professor Matyushenko has received the M.I. Tugan-Baranovsky state award of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for outstanding scientific work in economics in 2014 (for the series of works "The high-tech components of Industrial Policy of Ukraine"). Being a Head of NBIC-technologies and technologies transfer Lab at Research and development center for industrial problems of development of NAS of Ukraine, Igor Matyushenko has published a series of scientific works and monographs on development of nanotechnologies, biotechnologies, information technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as establishment of nanobioeconomy, information economy, as well as development of green energy in the world and Ukraine.

Being a Head of Department of Foreign Economic Relations and International Affairs in Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Igor Matyushenko has a long experience of serving in public sector. After beginning his teaching in 2011, he continues to work on the following topics: European integration impact on different sectors of Ukrainian economy, identifying the perspectives of investment support for innovative development of enterprises and high-tech transfer in energy sector.

Within his teaching and lecturing career, he has written a number of textbooks and had been teaching the courses on “Management of international investments”, “The commercialization of high technology in the world”,  “Export potential and its estimation methods”, Eurointegration, etc.
