VEGA is the network of Universities, Research Centres and production sector, for the promotion and the development of initiatives concerning scientific research and technological transfer, to improve the technological growth and the competitive edge of the territory. VEGA is the first Science and Technology Park in Italy, with 200 companies settled where 2000 employees work, and it is an international model of environmental and industrial reconversion. VEGA represents the renaissance of the waterfront of Venice and it works to regenerate Porto Marghera, one of the largest European industrial areas, through a modern conception of sustainable development and technological services.
VEGA is the Door to Venice, open to the leading sectors of technological innovation mainly based upon: 1) ICT and Digital Media; 2) Environment and Sustainable Development; 3) Nanotechnologies.
The Scientific and Technological Park is managed by VEGA Scarl an Italian private and no profit consortium consisting of 34 members, among which the Municipality and the Province of Venice, the ENI Group, Veneto Innovazione Holding, the two Venetian Universities, many small and medium-sized enterprises.
